SAF-T › D406 checks beyond ANAF

Quarterly D406 for a single month (HeaderComment T vs period)

How it shows in our report

SAFT-H-03 · Header/HeaderComment · T: 2026-10 … 2026-10 = 1 · corect: L (acum T)

What it means

HeaderComment gives the return type: L/NL monthly (one month), T/NT quarterly (a calendar quarter), A annual (12 months). In our tests ANAF's validator accepted T with a single month.

Why it matters

ANAF uses D406 for risk analysis and compares it with the VAT return (D300) and D394. Mismatches like this do not block filing, but can lead to compliance letters or requests for clarification.

Common causes

How to fix it

  1. Set HeaderComment like the VAT return period: monthly = L, quarterly = T.

Wrong

<HeaderComment>T</HeaderComment> … <PeriodStart>10</PeriodStart> … <PeriodEnd>10</PeriodEnd>

Correct

<HeaderComment>L</HeaderComment> … <PeriodStart>10</PeriodStart> … <PeriodEnd>10</PeriodEnd>

Check your D406 file before filing it

We run ANAF's validator for your period plus the checks ANAF only does after filing: trial balance, balances, ledger totals, VAT, CUIs and IBANs. One free check per day.
