Annual D406: asset cost, accumulated depreciation and book value do not add up

How it shows in our report

SAFT-AST-01 · Assets/Asset MF-001 · 6000.00 + 0.00 + 0.00 − 0.00 · corect: 6000.00 (acum 7000.00)

What it means

For every asset in MasterFiles/Assets the Valuation figures must agree: end cost = begin cost + additions (AssetAddition, InvestmentSupport) ± transfers − disposals; end book value = end cost − accumulated depreciation; accumulated depreciation = depreciation at the start of the year + the year's depreciation. ANAF's validator checks none of these.

Why it matters

ANAF uses D406 for risk analysis and compares it with the VAT return (D300) and D394. Mismatches like this do not block filing, but can lead to compliance letters or requests for clarification.

Common causes

How to fix it

  1. Reconcile the asset card with the trial balance on 21x/28x accounts before exporting.
  2. Use the correct values from the report as a starting point.

Check your D406 file before filing it

We run ANAF's validator for your period plus the checks ANAF only does after filing: trial balance, balances, ledger totals, VAT, CUIs and IBANs. One free check per day.
